Welcome to Acts 40

I am really glad you are here. Whether EBC Mead has been your church home for years or you are stepping into this for the first time, I am thankful you decided to be part of Acts 40. This challenge has grown far beyond what we originally imagined, and seeing people from inside and outside our church take part has been one of the most encouraging parts of it for me.

Acts 40 is a 40 day challenge built around a simple daily rhythm of walking or running, spending time in the book of Acts, and being intentional with God. Wherever you are starting from, you are welcome here.

My hope is that this journey feels encouraging and meaningful, and that it gives you space to reflect, grow, and connect with others along the way. I am excited to walk through this together.

When is Acts 40?

March 1 - April 9

Why Acts 40?

Acts 40 grew out of our shift to Life Groups. As a church, we said we did not just want to attend together. We wanted to do life together. And life does not only happen on Sundays. It happens in routines, conversations, and sometimes on walks.

I kept hearing people talk about walking and running. Some were trying to lose a few pounds. Some said their doctor told them they needed to. Some people genuinely enjoy walking and running. I do not fully understand those people, but they exist. What stood out to me was that many of us were already moving, just not together.

Acts 40 became a way to connect something many people were already doing with a chance to slow down, reflect, and grow spiritually. Walking creates space to think and reset. The book of Acts shows us what can happen when ordinary people live with intentional faith.

How Does Acts 40 Work?

Each weekday, you will read one chapter from the book of Acts and spend time reflecting on what stands out. Along with that, you will walk or run each day at a pace and distance that works for you. This is meant to fit into real life, not compete with it.

It is okay to miss a day. This is not about being perfect or keeping a streak. The goal is consistency over time, not pressure.

Weekends are a time to rest and reflect. You can still walk or run on weekends if you would like, but the focus is slowing down and thinking through what you are learning. I will send out a summary of that week’s readings and how they connect with what we are doing together.

Each Sunday, a weekly challenge will be shared in the EBC Mead Acts 40 Facebook Group that goes along with the Scripture readings for that week. These challenges are fun and practical and are designed to help you connect with God and with other people.

Weekly Check-Ins

At the end of each week, we ask everyone to complete a short weekly check in. This is the only time you will need to log in. The check in helps you reflect on the week, share how things went, and let us know how we can be praying for you.

Weekly check ins are completed on weekends and are meant to be simple and encouraging, not time consuming. If you miss a week, that is okay. Just jump back in the next weekend.

My Hope

My hope is that over these 40 days, simple and consistent steps lead to something meaningful physically, spiritually, and relationally. One walk at a time. One chapter at a time. One day at a time. I am really glad you are here and excited to take this journey together.
